TMK-3 The Stylized Bee Marks circa 1959/60 – 1972

The year 1959 saw the begining of stylization and the wings of the bee becoming sharply angular.  A major change in the way the bee is rendered in the trademark made its appearance in 1960.  The Stylized Bee (TMK-3), sometimes abbreviated as Sty-Bee when written, as the major component of the trademark appeared in three basic forms through 1972.  The first two are both classified as the Stylized Bee (TMK-3).

In 1960, the completely "Stylized Bee with V" mark came into use, appearing with "W Germany". It was used in one form or another until 1979. In addition to its appearance with "W Germany" to the right (1960-1963), it appeared above the "W Germany" (1960-1972),and to the left of the "Three Line Mark" (mid-1960's to 1972). The "Three Line Mark" was used intermittently and sometimes concurrently with the small "stylized 1960-1972 mark". It was the most prominent trademark in use prior to the "Goebel Bee" trademark

Fig.13 is known as the large stylized bee – used primarily from 1960 through 1963. The “W. Germany” is placed to the right of the bottom of the “V”. The mark can be black or blue, and is sometimes found in an incised circle.  Fig.14 the small stylized bee was used concurrently with the large stylized bee from about 1960 and continued after 1963 until about 1972. The mark is usually in blue. It is also referred to as the One Line Mark.
*Both marks are often accompanied by a stamped, (in black), “West” or “Western Germany”.

In addition to its appearance with "W Germany" to the right (1960-1963), it appeared above the "W Germany" (1960-1972), and to the left of the "Three Line Mark" (mid-1960's to 1972).

The "Three Line Mark" was used intermittently and sometimes concurrently with the small "stylized 1960-1972 mark". It was the most prominent trademark in use prior to the "Goebel Bee" trademark.
